DJ Righteous is worthy of his namesake. The hip-hop veteran has been a household name in the state of Virginia for quite a while. Growing up with architects of the genre like J Dilla and Pete Rock, he would also draw off of funk and dancehall influences such as Earth, Wind, & Fire and Herbie Hancock to develop a sound within the genre that balanced tropical riddims and sample-based melodies with punchy drum work. One of the true talents in the DMV area, DJ Righteous has compiled a successful discography and a budding record label, Boondox Records LLC, that gives other local talents a chance to showcase their skills and offer the city the same opportunities it gave him back in the day. The pandemic gave him even more time to perfect his craft as he released three projects to start the decade off on the right foot, with his latest effort, “Beatstradamus,” dropping at the start of 2021. DJ Righteous has set the tone since the beginning of his career, and no matter what obstacles lie ahead, he has shown his overwhelming passion for the game will overcome anything.
